Ouray, Colorado
Just ten miles down the famed Million Dollar Highway is the town of Ouray, located in a natural bowl encircled by steep, snow-capped peaks. Originally established as a mining camp, Ouray was founded in 1877 during the heyday of gold mining in southwestern Colorado. Year-round adventure awaits in the “Switzerland of America.” Ice climbers journey from far and wide to climb at the famous Ouray Ice Park, and Box Canon Falls is a gorgeous locale to visit when it’s covered in snow. The Box Canyon Waterfall and Park are fantastic during summer months for an invigorating hike or mellow stroll with views of the rushing water. Perimeter Trail is another favorite, especially with the golden autumn foliage. Ouray Hot Springs is a lovely place to relax and soak throughout the year after hiking the local trails.
